From our human ancestors who lived hundreds of thousands of years ago to those living today, people around the world have made and used tools that may look different, but ultimately serve the same purpose. We use sharp things for cutting, heavy things for chopping, blunt things for pounding, and coarse materials for grinding and sharpening.

Follow the link to match tools from hundreds of years ago to their modern equivalents.

This game is brought to you by the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, IU’s newest museum. Opening in Fall 2023 the museum will present IU’s world-class collections from around the globe in newly-designed exhibit galleries and learning labs.
