Replaced by Rubber

On the South Lawn

Watch or participate in a demonstration of the Rubber hand illusion. This can take some time to create so we will have other activities to participate in while we are convincing the senses of our rubber hand volunteer that their own arm has in fact been replaced by a fake rubber arm. While you wait for the illusion to take hold, or for your turn to have a rubber arm, compete to find out how good your balance is. Try to stay on your feet while we use vibration to mess with your senses! Can you still move well when we offset your vision with prism goggles? Play patty cake to find out! Can you use only your sense of touch to recreate art? Attempt to recreate an image you feel drawn on top of your back.
