It’s not often that a natural phenomenon as awesome as a total solar eclipse passes through Indiana. But this year, on April 8, 2024, that is exactly what will happen. And Bloomington is right in the middle of the eclipse path!
So to celebrate, we moved Science Fest to April 6 – two days before the eclipse – so we can bring you all the amazing science and art and culture that goes along with such a rare event.
This year you will have the chance to ask an Astronomer your eclipse questions, build your own model solar eclipse, hear over a dozen stories about the role eclipses have played in history, learn how another total solar eclipse made Einstein famous, make mini-art installations about the eclipse, see a live image of the sun projected onto a screen, what to do if it’s cloudy during the eclipse, build a pinhole viewer to safely see the eclipse, and enjoy an eclipse scavenger hunt, and more, more, more!
Check back here frequently to learn about how Science Fest – Eclipse Edition – is shaping up this year.
